Staff Report
Take note
because you do not see it often. Franklin not only won the team title at the
Mooresville Sectional, they also advanced ALL 14 wrestlers on to the regional
level. Along the way, the Grizzly Cubs crowned three individual champions. It
was by far the most impressive performance of any Mid-State team in sectional
action.
In the same
field at Mooresville, four other conference teams competed. Mooresville
advanced nine wrestlers with one champion. Martinsville advanced eight, but had
two champions. Greenwood moved five along to regional competition and Whiteland
advanced four. Both of those teams crowned one individual champion.
Plainfield
competed in the Avon Sectional and fared reasonably well. The Quakers advanced
eight wrestlers and took two titles. Decatur Central hosted a sectional. In
fact, the Hawks hosted one of the stronger fields in the state. They managed to
advance four wrestlers on to next week but claimed no champions.
In all, the
Mid-State will have 52 grapplers competing next week with ten individual
sectional champions among them.
